SA, put your inbuilt pessimism aside ( I know it's difficult as a long term hammer ) and take an objective view of this match. There you will see we have a more than even chance of getting through this round. A good team wins when the odds are in its favour.
I reckon we will prevail.

We do seem to be a tad over confident in some quarters don't we ? :-) We are certainly a tougher proposition than in many a season but going to Old Trafford against a United team that is not what it has been in the past, is still going to be a tough game.

I reckon this is the poorest Man U team I can think of in a long long time... now we have gone up there and played some of their top top sides and got results... if we play to anything near what we have done this season then I think we will get a result... if that is brashness then so be it... remember the Man forum have us 75% to go through... is that anti brashness?? If we play shit and the Mancs play well so be it but I don't think we have gone up there in a better frame of mind in 20+ years

If we get past man utd then we need to draw a london team in the semi and play a london team in the final. On the 3 previous occasions West ham have won the cup they beat 2 london teams. Nice Stat eh!?

Who's dismissed them completely though? All I see here are people putting us in their semi final lineup. I suppose we should all be defeatist and put Man Utd in there just in case it comes back to haunt us.

Yes they are a poor Manchester United side but looking at the league table and their progress in the FA Cup they have pretty much matched our achievements for season surely you cannot be saying they are a poor side in comparison to us?
It is one thing being confident by feeling we have chance of a result but expecting to win is bordering on arrogance if you simply dismissing the chances of an opponent who are more than capable and probably favourites to beat us.
I fancy a draw tomorrow but a defeat would not be a surprise but equally a win in the context of the season neither.

Busty, it's not so much being confident of a win, it's the fact people are literally dismissing the chance of these teams beating us. Come on, we have pillared Spurs fans over the years for being deluded cunts, yet we can apparently now just turn up at Old Trafford and it's a FORGONE CONCLUSION.

On our day we can beat any of those teams... but on their day, any of those teams can beat us.
There's a cup semi at Wembley at stake here and previous form goes out the window. The going from here on in is going to be very, very hard indeed.
